Brno Delegation

With its year of establishment, 2010, and its current membership base, the Brno Delegation continues the tradition of the Moravian Commandry of the Czech Grand Priory of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, restored after 1989.

Following some restructuring due to both the division of the Czech Lazarites into two constantly competing factions and the establishment of the Moravian-Silesian Bailiwick, the Brno Delegation of the Saint Lazarus Order intends to be an offer: a place for all former and current members of the order in South Moravia to fulfil their Order mission in the sincere and loyal following of Christ – our supreme and entirely legitimate Grand Master. Its members have therefore deliberately put aside all their ambitions to be the only true and genuine Lazarites by offering reconciliation and everyday patient work for the needy of this world.

Given the low membership numbers of the Delegation (three as of 1 July 2011), this stage of existence of the Delegation puts an emphasis on an active life of Christian faith, both public and private, within the structures of the local Christian churches and in the professions that the Order members have assumed and performed in the spirit of chivalric principles and virtues. Thus, they are currently carrying out the special mission and spirituality of the Saint Lazarus Order mainly in this way. In the future, they hope to expand their activities in cooperation with the other units of the Order.

They see their support and active involvement in the Slavkov Conciliation Initiative as a certain specific aspect of their service: with its mission, the Initiative itself fulfils one of the Order’s major goals: reconciliation among people and service for the unity of the Church.

A Lazarite Support Services group has been set up in Klobuky near Brno, the objective of which is to cooperate with other similarly-oriented institutions on organizing volunteer work, teaching and cultural activities.
